SHAPE RECEIVES PROCEEDS FROM GOLF FORE HEART 2012
AND CONGRATULATIONS
FROM CONGRESSMAN CUMMINGS
On July 26, 2012, JoAnne Zawitoski, Principal of Semmes, Bowen & Semmes and Chairman of the Board of SHAPE, was pleased to accept a check for $30,000 for SHAPE as its share of the proceeds of Golf Fore Heart 2012, which was held at Mountain Branch Golf Course near Baltimore on June 14, 2012.
The check was presented by Golf Fore Heart co- Chair, Mark Montgomery, at the Baltimore Orioles Skybox at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during the Orioles v. Tampa Rays game. Present for the festivities was Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings (D. Md), who is shown in this photograph congratulating JoAnne and SHAPE on SHAPE’s important role in heart attack prevention.
Congressman Cummings lost his own father several years ago to a heart attack, and he understands the devastation that these preventable deaths can cause to families.
Golf Fore Heart has been held in Baltimore each year since 2006 in memory of JoAnne’s late husband, Guy P. Fernandez, who died tragically of a heart attack in 2004 at the age of 49. Two years later, JoAnne teamed up with Mark Montgomery, CEO of Ports America Chesapeake and himself a heart attack survivor, to organize this annual golf event to raise money for SHAPE and other important community causes.
